PhD-Candidate position in research project “QuRIOUS“ (M/F/D)

JOB DESCRIPTION

For our team in Munich, we are currently looking for a full-time PhD-candidate starting 1st of October 2025.

ABOUT THE PROJECT OBJECTIVES | https://www.quriousclocks.eu/

• Provide Europe with 15 well-trained quantum researchers with cross-sectoral experience (both fundamental quantum and industrial research)
• Provide Europe with bleeding edge quantum technology for robust and transportable optical atomic clocks (TRL 6) and for very advanced optical clocks, in particular superradiant clocks (TRL 4)
• strengthen (and expand) our collaborations with industry

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaboration in publicly funded project QuRIOUS (https://www.quriousclocks.eu/)
• Simulation/design/installation of mechanical and opto-electronic laser setups for proof-of-concept
• Design & development of innovative solutions in the field of electro/acousto-optics with matching HV-/HF-driver electronics for scientific and industrial applications especially in the field of quantum technology

QUALIFICATIONS / PREREQUISITES

• Undergraduate background in physics
• Ideally experience with the miniaturization of optical assemblies and micropositioning of optical elements
• Goal-oriented, independent and structured way of working
• Researcher is exclusively working for the action
• Researcher may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date
